The whole instrument -- 01-overview
Mutating drum kit -- a pad grid whose sounds evolve.
MUTON8 is an 8-pad drum instrument built around mutation: the pad grid plays the kit, the pad control panel edits the selected pad, and the global STAB / MUT RT / MUT DP knobs steer how the kit drifts when it evolves.
RND KIT re-rolls the whole kit and files the new state to the preset list as rnd-* history; the post-process panel and shared FX rack shape the summed output.
The preset browser below keeps every roll -- double-click to recall, R renames, X deletes.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| PADS | 8 performance pads -- click to trigger, select to edit. |
| PAD PANEL | Per-pad controls for the selected pad. |
| STAB | Stability -- how much mutation is resisted. |
| MUT RT | Mutation rate -- how fast the kit drifts. |
| MUT DP | Mutation depth -- how far each step can go. |
| RND KIT | Re-roll the whole kit -- filed as rnd-* history. |
| POST | Post-process panel -- bus shaping after the pads. |
| SAVE | Save the current state as a named preset. |

The running plugin -- every area is detailed below.

The kit's playable surface.
The pad grid -- click a pad to trigger it; selecting a pad loads its parameters into the pad control panel.

The pad control panel edits the selected pad -- engine, pitch, envelope and routing. Its header reads Pad N g:M -- the pad index plus its mutation generation, so you can see how far the kit has evolved ("No pad" when nothing is selected).

The kit drifts -- these knobs steer it.
STAB resists change, MUT RT sets how often the kit mutates, MUT DP sets how far each mutation can travel.

The strip above the pad's parameter grid.
Wave -- the pad's source wave: basic oscillators (Square/Saw/Sine/Tri/Pulse...), noise variants, and harmonic shapes (Organ/Clarinet/Bell/Harmonic/Morph...).

FM wave -- modulator shape for the pad's FM stage.

AM wave -- modulator shape for the AM stage.

Ring wave -- modulator shape for ring modulation.
